Pratyaksha writes in English and Hindi and is the author of fourteen books published by Harper, Juggernaut, Rajkamal, Speaking Tiger 

and Gyanpeeth. Her work moves between languages and worlds, shaped by a close attention to relationships, memory, and lives lived at the margins. She has received the Indo-Norwegian Award, the Hans Katha Samman, the Krishna Baldev Vaid Fellowship, and the Vanmali Vishisht Katha Samman, and has been a resident at Sangam House. Her work is taught at NYU and Duke University and translated into Norwegian, Urdu, Tamil, and Panjabi.
